Do you accept new patients?
Yes, we would love to have you as a new patient in our office. We love it when someone says nice things about us and refers their friends and family. At your first visit we will try to answer all your questions, as well as go over your suggested treatment plan, pricing options and scheduling any future appointments.
How much will my initial visit cost?
It is hard to know exactly what your dental care will cost at your initial visit but at Hastings Family Dental, you will be informed of what your dental treatment will cost before we do any work. We also file all your dental insurance claims and have Care Credit to accommodate anyone that needs an extended payment plan.
Is your office handicapped accessible?
Yes, we have a handicapped accessible elevator to get up to our second floor office. We also have a handicap accessible bathroom and treatment rooms that will accommodate wheelchairs.
What does your office use for an anesthetic?
Hastings Family Dental use several different anesthetics depending on the patient, the dental procedure and the patients dental health. We will discuss with you your individual needs and determine an anesthetic that is best for you.
How many times a day should I brush my teeth?
Hastings Family Dental agree with the American Dental Association when they recommend that a person brush their teeth two times each day. Depending on factors such as your diet and brushing technique, our dental hygienist can make a recommendation for your individual dental health needs.
How often should you floss?
We recommend that you floss at least once every day to break up and remove plaque from between teeth and the gum line where a toothbrush can’t reach. With brushing alone, you are missing 40% of the surfaces of your teeth.
How long should I brush my teeth?
Whether you use a manual or an electric toothbrush, brushing your teeth should take 2 minutes or more. Not brushing for long enough is the single biggest mistake people make in regards to brushing technique. You should also replace your toothbrush at least every 6 months to ensure it is cleaning effectively.
How often should I visit my dentist for a checkup?
At Hastings Family Dental, our doctors or hygienists will determine how often you should visit your dentist for a checkup. Although it is common to see the dentist every 6 months, depending on the condition of your mouth, teeth and gums, will determine how many times a year you will be recommended for dental care.
How many Americans are affected by gum disease?
Around 75% of Americans suffer from some form of periodontal, or gum disease and many don’t know it. Gingivitis is the most common form of gum disease and is reversible. But if not treated, gingivitis can lead to periodontitis which causes the gums and bone to recede and the connective tissues that hold the tooth in place to break down. That’s when you lose your teeth for good!
