Dentures & Partials at Bauer & Howard Dental Care
When most or all of your teeth have been lost, dentures can provide many cosmetic and medical benefits including; higher self-esteem, improved eating and speaking abilities, and restored support of the lips and cheeks.
You may not know it, but there are different types of dentures. We at Bauer and Howard Dental Care can help you figure out what kind of dentures will work best for you.
After all teeth have been removed and the tissue is healed, a complete denture will be given to the patient. Healing of the tissue may take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
An over denture requires at least two roots in order to hold the denture. Attachments will be placed into the roots, which will then anchor the denture in place.
An implant-retained denture is similar to an over denture, in that it is held in by attachments in roots. Implants replace non-existing roots and are used to anchor the denture in place.
Given the day after teeth are removed, an immediate denture gives the patient a way to use teeth until tissue is completely healed.
A partial denture is a removable bridge that replaces one or more missing teeth. The advantage of the partial denture is that it keeps other teeth from moving because of the absence of teeth.
