Even a subtle change in the appearance of your smile can make a remarkable difference in the way you look and feel. Whitening, bonding, enamel shaping, veneers, and white fillings can help to create a beautiful smile - sometimes with minimal changes to existing teeth.
At Bauer and Howard Dental Care, whitening can be accomplished either at home or in our office. For whitening done at home, we direct you to use trays custom made from impressions taken of your teeth. This method can take up to 2 weeks to get your maximum results.
For whitening done in our office we use the Zoom! In-Office Whitening System. ZOOM! In-Office Whitening is basically a "jump start" for the busy individual who doesn't want to mess with days of wearing trays and gradual whitening. It will give you immediate results. The Zoom! whitening process utilizes a scientifically formulated PH balanced Hydrogen Peroxide that, when activated by the Zoom! light, gently penetrates the teeth to remove deep stains and discoloration. With proper care and an occasional touch-up at home, your whiter smile will sparkle for years.
A veneer is a custom porcelain shell that is bonded to the surface of your tooth to give your smile a natural, beautiful look and protect them from damage. Veneers are used to fix chipped or malformed teeth, rejuvenate severely stained or discolored teeth, lengthen teeth that are too short, or, in some cases, veneers can be an alternative to orthodontics. Veneers can dramatically reshape your teeth and smile, creating a greater confidence in your smile and self-esteem.
Bonding is a simple, non-painful procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material is applied and hardened with a special light This light untimately "bonds" the material to the tooth to restore or improve a person's smile. It is used to close spaces inbetween teeth, improve appearance of discolored teeth, repair decayed, chipped or cracked teeth and can also serve as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings.
Crowding, overlapping, and rough edges can all be fixed with enamel shaping. The process files a small layer off of the teeth in order to make them smoother and create more space without the use of anesthesia.
Patients may wish to reshape their gums if they feel their teeth appear "too short" or "small". The process will essentially be the same as a Laser Gingivectomy, in which a laser is used to remove tissue. The process can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.
